Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 958.30 crore on Friday, 17 May 2013, compared with inflow of Rs 1240.50 crore on Thursday, 16 May 2012. The net inflow of Rs 958.30 crore on Friday, 17 May 2013, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3203.50 crore and gross sales of Rs 2245.20 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 958.30 crore into the secondary equity markets on 17 May 2013, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3202.20 crore and gross sales of Rs 2243.90 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had advanced 38.79 points or 0.19% to settle at 20,286.12 on that day, its highest closing level since 5 January 2011. There was an net outflow of Rs 0.10 crore from the category 'primary market others' on Friday, 17 May 2013, which was a result of gross purchases Rs 1.30 crore and gross sales Rs 1.40 crore. FIIs have purchased shares worth Rs 12950.90 crore in May 2013 so far (till 17 May 2013). FIIs bought shares worth Rs 5414.10 crore in April 2013. FIIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 73987.30 crore in 2013 so far (till 17 May 2013). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 128359.80 crore in calendar 2012.
